I hate the new editor. It certainly wasn’t designed by a writer slash blogger. WP is continuing evolving into becoming a kind of cult for tech innovations and new gimmicks and what not. What it seems to have stopped from being is a friendly platform. And it still has a wastefull habit of creating stuff only a precious few would want. It’s funny because just a few years ago, it was on a verge of becoming the smartest choice to those in need of a platform. And it could possibly have got into a position to be an asset for activism and social change. Instead, it retreated and now I’m not even sure how to retrieve and transfer my stuff to a personal file. Anyway, it’s all in the spirit of the season. Cheers

The classic editor worked well. Why would anyone take it away. That post has to be rewritten. I could see what I was doing.

The new editor is horrible. There is an option to revert to Classic. Click on three vertical dots at top of page – this gives you options – the bottom one is revert to classic editor. Enjoy. X

I had been using the classic editor, but yesterday the new editor took over. The classic editor vorked very well. If something works dont’s break.

Precisely. Unfortunately I understand that this new system is all for those using mobile phones. What I have outlined is how to get out of the new one and back to the old (classic)

Some individuals worship new gadgets. I can no longer operate a cell phone. They are too sophisticated. One can deposit money in the bank using an ‘intelligent’ phone. I haven’t got there. 🙂

Nor me. My phone is for calls and texts – I don’t even use the camera 🙂

Fariba, I think you might be able to use the classic editor. It’s an option. However, when I wrote my last post, I was denied that option. I would press on classic editor, but the new editor barged in. The new editor no longer barges in. I will post my little article tomorrow. I needed to rest.

I am with you about the new editor. A few weeks back I started using it and lost two full posts that I was just proof reading and doing last minute adjustments. It really pissed me off! I switched back to classic and wrote a complaint to WP which was worthless.
So this last week I tried again but this time with a new post (from the start) it seemed to work fine until I saved and went back to do some revisions. Half the blog was in HTML and the other half in plain text, photos I had edited were in original form. Well- it was a mess to clean up! I made another (old lady) complaint and received that it would not be answered due to the holiday. That was on the 20th!
So yes, it needed a great deal of work before they released it to us and I don’t feel like I am getting a better product.

I did write one post using the new editor. The new editor took over my last post. It barged in leaving me no possibility of using the classic editor. By and large, bloggers are not computer technicians. We are users of a service, so it has to be people-friendly. We are providing content. I am retired and find blogging a marvellous activity. The new editor is not allowing me to keep up with my own humble standards of presentation. The classic editor could. I thank you for writing. My old post was trashed. Nothing could be done. So I chose “new post” classic editor. No one barged in. I thank you very much for writing and a Merry Christmas, Micheline

Most emphatically, no, you don’t have to use the new editor! I freely admit to being a techno-idiot, so I will not touch anything new unless I have to, and I am perfectly satisfied with the old one.
Your last post, Micheline, the one about Pushkin, Bilibin, and Rimsky-Korsakov, appeared briefly and then disappeared. I was lucky to read it but unable to comment on it.

Thank you so much, dear friend!
What’s left for us is Salute to Vienna concert, followed by picnic with champagne and fireworks on the beach. The weather is a bit too unstable for boating to a spot in the midst of several small islands, where we usually go to be surrounded by fireworks, as each little island stages its own show. Still and all, there will be romantic Spanish guitar music all along the beach, and I dance flamenco.
Happy and healthy upcoming 2019, dear Micheline!
