She was a great artist who left an important legacy. We wouldn’t know as much about the voyageurs and their Amerindian guides who opened up much of North America. Many thanks. 🙂

Before the Louisiana Purchase, the United States were the former thirteen colonies. What has always fascinated me is the role Amerindians played in opening up North-America. The voyageurs traveled with Amerindian guides and learned their languages. It was a matter of survival. Amerindians could cure scurvy and nature provided all the materials required to rebuild a canoe or make snowshoes. I like that part of history. 🙂

It is exquisite. Moreover, she chronicled much of the opening of the North-American continent. Voyageurs and their Amerindian guides went all the way to the West Coast. Thank you for writing, Micheline 🙂
