The Shooter in the Quebec City Attack
The notion persists, in President Trump’s mind, that all Muslims are terrorists. Moreover, it had been suggested that the shooter in the Quebec City attack was supported by a Muslin terrorist organization, but such is not the case..
The shooter in Quebec City is Alexandre Bissonnette, a student at Laval University. He loved guns and, according to his Facebook account, he was interested in nativist Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Front, a far-right French political party, and nativist Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States. After the attack, he phone 911, the emergency telephone number, to alert the police and tell where he could be picked up.
But we now have news.

Alexandre Bissonnette: “non-classic” terrorism
Alexandre Bissonnette is considered a “criminal extremist,” which is a crime that is somewhat new to criminologists. I will quote RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] Commissioner Bob Paulson.
RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson is warning about “non-classic” terrorism that feeds on hate and controversy on social media, blaming growing political polarization for the deadly shooting at a mosque in Quebec City.
An Early Report: a Witness not a “Second Man”
- a man shoveling snow heard shots
- Alexandre Bissonnette
It was first reported that two men were suspects, one of whom was a Muslim. This Muslim, the “second man,” was not the shooter. He was shoveling snow outside the mosque, heard shots, and entered the building. He saw bleeding bodies and dialed 911, to report that an attack had taken place.
After Mr Bissonnette was taken into custody the “second man” was released. There is no evidence that some Islamic terrorist organization supported Alexandre Bissonnette. Therefore, Alexandre Bissonnette is unlikely to face terror charges.
Setting the Planet Ablaze
- President Trump’s Islamophobia is dangerous
- President Trump searching the White House
President Trump’s Islamophobia and the influence he exerts on the media are extremely dangerous and could set the planet ablaze. The Quebec City attack is an example of the harm President Trump’s Islamophobia and xenophobia can cause. Mr Trump is now fuming because, despite the ban, he is hanging on to his conviction that all Muslims are terrorists. Rumour has it that President Trump is also searching the White House to eliminate traces left by President Obama whom he still sees as a Muslim and, therefore, a terrorist.
The Injured
- three released
- two in intensive care
- Dr Julien Clément
Three of the injured have been discharged from the L’Enfant-Jésus Hospital, one of three teaching hospitals affiliated with Laval University. Two, however, remain in intensive care. It seems their life is not threatened, but there are complications. Dr Julien Clément was called in. He is a former military surgeon and a trauma specialist who served in the Middle East. Dr Clément originates from Windsor, Ontario, and studied medicine in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and British Columbia. He and his team had difficulty operating because the victims bled profusely. Dr Clément didn’t think he would ever see such carnage in Quebec City.
We must resist President Trump and other nativists and extremists. Allow me to repeat that the suspect in the Quebec City attack is Alexandre Bissonnette, a French-Canadian Laval University student.
I will close by saying that the brutal loss in Quebec City of innocent lives has saddened Canadians “from coast to coast.”
Love to everyone ♥

Equally disturbing is that the media has chosen to call him a ‘lone wolf,’ along a series of euphemistic terms aimed at diverting the focus from him as white home-bred terrorist, fed on the hatred rhetoric that victimizes not just Muslims but gays, blacks, minorities, and others. We do no favors to anyone by selecting the ‘victim du jour,’ at the expense of other oppressed segments of society, targeted by murderous white supremacists. All those killed and wounded in these crimes deserve compassion and justice, and all perpetrators must be trialled and punished to the full extent of the law. But we must not lose sight of who’s also guilty of inciting and promoting a toxic atmosphere of intolerance and fear mongering. My thoughts are with the families of the befallen; that they, and others like them, find comfort and peace from us all.

This is terrible Wesley. Muslims had nothing to do with the shooting at Quebec City largest Mosque. Alexandre Bissonnette, the shooter, is a French-Canadian student at Laval University. He is unlikely to be charged with terrorism because he is not a member of a terrorist group. He will be charged with several counts of murder and several counts of attempted murder.
You are absolutely right. He is not a “lone wolf.” He is one of a multitude of people who believe President Trump. According to President Trump, all Muslims are terrorists. Marine Le Pen is conveying the same message. Alexandre Bissonnette aimed his gun at the “victime du jour,” Muslims are being demonized.
The RCMP (the Mounties) reached the correct conclusion. Alexandre Bissonnette was influenced by President Trump and Front National leader Marine Le Pen. The media, including the social media are peddling hate. They have turned all shootings into the work of Muslims.
Canadians, Quebecers in particular, are being taught tolerance. It will not happen instantly, but it is happening.
Alexandre Bissonnette told that he was the perpetrator, but is keeping silent. He will probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
Donald Trump should be impeached because he is a threat. So are those who believe him. Donald Trump didn’t pull the trigger but he chose the victims: Muslims. I am seeing videos on YouTube that contain nothing but lies about him and Michelle.
I was taught that “médisance” (backbiting) was a sin and it is. Well, President Trump is a sinner. So are the media, including the seemingly harmless social media. Defaming other human beings is more than a sin; it’s a crime!
There is another rumour. A Canadian journalist has stated that Muslims are at a greater risk in Quebec than elsewhere in Canada. That is a lie. Separatists had a terrorist wing in the 1960s. Trudeau père, Pierre Elliott, put an end to the “Front de Libération du Québec” during the “October Crisis” of 1970.
Justin Trudeau is advocating tolerance and Dr Philippe Couillard is working very hard at making Quebec intercultural. All humans constitute a large family. Every time I go to the grocery store, I see that interculturalism is working. The poor families: widows and orphans.
Best regards,
Micheline

You’re so right; I feel your frustration. I visited Quebec in 2000; there was so much hope in the air, there and everywhere. Now it seems like a memory from childhood, as we were all considerably less jaded about the world. For a moment, I even considered living there, which is not completely out of question. But even as I’d never choose a place to live based on ‘being safe,’ as it’s such a terrible concept to make any decision, I’m sorry that even that beautiful spot is somewhat tainted. But Quebecers know better, I’m sure; their ‘gorgeous mosaic,’ as a former mayor once referred to NYC, will prevail. Cheers

Wesley, I see interculturalism growing under my very eyes. It’s a societal project. We all belong to the human race and we have to engage in a dialogue. I was glad to see Justin Trudeau standing next to Philippe Couillard at vigils and funerals. The Quebec City shooting has turned out to be a national tragedy. We will have to protect all mosques until Donald Trump stops inciting hatred. His Islamophobia was “the second man,” not a terrorist organization. He still wants to bar Muslims from entering the United States and he has alienated Mexican President Nieto. How could he ask that Mexico foot the bill for the wall he, Donald Trump, wants to build? So the meeting between the two presidents has been cancelled.
I’m glad the Mounted Police put their best investigators on the Quebec City shooting. Muslims did not kill Muslims. Alexandre Bissonnette did and he is not a member of an Islamic terrorist organization. He was a fan of Trump and Le Pen.
My best Wesley. We live in difficult times. Micheline
