Glenn Beck: we don’t listen
I believe this is informative. To listen to Glenn Beck, one has to scroll down a little, but one gets there.
Beware, he may already have changed his mind. Afterthought.

I can’t trust this guy. I bet if he gets called to, say, lead the ultra-right Evangelical wing, in charge of promoting prayers and backlashes in every U.S. public school, he’d won’t have any reservations.

This was election night truth. Today’s truth will differ. There’s no cure for ultra-right wingers. I’m trying to see what good came out of this fiasco, but I fear nothing came out. Voters should never take a risk. It’s Pascal’s Wager. Eternal damnation. Those who voted for Donald Trump imperiled us. One does not have that right. Love to you.

Nothing good came out of this election. It was surreal. Americans, I thought, cannot be doing this to themselves. They’ve been bought. There was a villain: Comey, who was probably paid. I have heard people say that Hillary had nothing to offer. She had experience to offer, stability, certainty. But he was a risk, people knew he was, but they voted for him. Watch out, he is now the establishment, big government! He would love to be a dictator. It’s a farce. Love

Yeah, it still feels unsettling. I really don’t know how well we’ll be able to respond to this, resist to this new status quo. But it does push us to get closer to those who’ve already been oppressed for so long by what we now fear it’s poised to come after us. More (and worst) than ‘it hits home,’ is that it sprouted from inside. Home based terror. So scary. And you’re right: suddenly, almost by choice, he’ve placed yet another clear danger on our path, as capable of destroy us as any deranged zealot from abroad. Maybe we’ll learn this time. We must. Cheers

It is unbelievable. People who said “I wanted to give him a chance” (I’ve heard this justification) are not aware that they have harmed the citizens of the USA. That is not a valid reason to vote for an ignoramus. Safety is more important. In an imperfect world, Hillary Clinton remained the best choice, the only choice. It is as though they believed a second investigation, a breech of protocol, was justifiable. It was not. But this is how Donald Trump defeated Hillary: suspicion. I think we can ask how much Comey was paid? You’re right, Donald Trump is more capable of harming Americans as any “deranged zealot”. He’s dwarfed the crisis in the Middle East. The “most powerful man in the world” is insane and those who elected him knew he was. Hillary is not guilty, but it may be a good idea for Obama to “pardon” her. Her safety is at risk. I think Putin should pay Canadians a visit. That would intimidate Donald Trump. We must also secure illegal immigrants. I don’t want Trump to hurt them. Canada is officially multicultural. We have our share of rednecks, but we don’t have foreigners. Cheers.

All valid points. I too think that Obama should go for broke in this final month and a half and exercise his power to guarantee at least certain things. But Hillary couldn’t be pardon because I don’t think she’s been charged of anything, let alone sentenced. I think that that’s when a presidential pardon applies. But he was ‘condemned’ by innuendo and on false premises. There are plenty of people who could be pardoned by the president, however. I don’t know about Comey, and as for Canada welcoming immigrants, it can’t be bad, specially if they’re refugees, who’ll probably increase as an indirect result of this election. And you’re right, to ‘give him a chance’ is a folly, but he’s still the president, even losing the popular vote (by 2 million!)

No, Hillary has not been convicted and cannot be pardoned, but Mr Trump is now speaking of corruption on the part of both Bill and Hillary Clinton. He won the presidency which should satisfy a normal man.
I agree, President Obama should go for broke while he can. Mr Trump plans to deport 300,000 illegal immigrants and persons he suspects are criminals as soon as he is sworn into office. And the wall is going up. He will cause so much pain. A lot of Mexicans and other Latinos have moved up to Canada and are happy here. Instituting multiculturalism has turned out to be a good decision on the part of Trudeau père. At any rate, there has to be a place for illegal immigrants to go and in Canada they’re not foreigners.
Mrs Clinton believes reopening the investigation led to her demise and that was James Comey’s initiative, but we may never know the truth. Cheers 🙂

I hadn’t forgot all about ‘Margaret’s husband,’ Pierre. That was the Canadian Swinging Times, and those two really rocked the boat to the tune of the era. Specially when they started ‘seeing other people.’ Somehow it all sounds tame now. A different age. Back to this ogre, it’s going to be a real moral challenge just watching him on TV, without thinking like a sinner. That’s how perfectly nice people lose their souls. It’ll take strength. Cheers

Trudeau père secured the nation in nearly every area with the possible exception of Amerindians. They are protected, but it came a little too late. Multiculturalism was a gift to Canadians. Quebec separatists were miffed, but Quebec itself ended up adopting “interculturalism.” It goes a long way with Dr Couillard who is also meditating a guaranteed income. It would replace employment insurance, welfare and other safety nets.
As for Trudeau père, he all but created Canada as we know it. Abortions were decriminalized, homosexuality was taken out of the closet, official bilingualism and biculturalism were enacted, multiculturalism inaugurated and he “patriated” the Constitution-Quebec has yet to sign, in which he entrenched in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. However, our social programs were created under Lester B. Pearson who hired Allan J. MacEachen to build the programs. Allan J. is a former Secretary of State and Deputy Prime Minister and Trudeau père’s right hand. Allan J. was my next door neighbour in Antigonish for more than 20 years. He came to see me and told me not to sell my house and move to Quebec, but I believed it was too late. It wasn’t. At any rate, Trudeau père was Canada’s finest Prime Minister ever, except for Lester B. Pearson.
Canadians can’t believe Donald Trump was elected to the presidency, but many think Hillary was a poor candidate. But they would have voted for her. Mr Trump was seen as completely unfit, intellectually, mentally, morally, etc. to run the US as he believes he can. I don’t think Mr Trump will be given as wide a berth as he believes he will. Outside the US, he was not a favourite. President Obama had been. He had all the qualifications including polished manners. No one feared him. The third catastrophe, after Brexit and Trump’s victory, would be Marine Le Pen leading France. It may happen. After Trump’s triumph, one can expect nearly anything. It sank the US. The only power left is Russia. Japan is having nothing to do with Britain outside the EU. Brexit weakened the EU, and I suspect Russia will have nothing to do with the US under Trump, nor will China. It’s surreal. With Trump as president, it is as if there were no intelligence left in Washington. Cheers.

What a great, abridged, history lesson on Canada, and what a sad conclusion, shared by millions around the world, I’m sure. Thanks Micheline. But what about Margaret? lol

Margaret had an unsuccessful second marriage and then bought an apartment near Trudeau’s house, a masterpiece of Art Deco, in downtown Montreal. The children kept them together. Sasha is an intellectual (a journalist, a filmmaker and an author). He and his wife live in Pierre’s house, near Margaret’s apartment, but it could be she also lives in Ottawa. She has now written three books and enjoys being a grandmother and a friend to her sons’ wives. In other words, Margaret had a few wild years and then went back home. She truly does not have a worry except a health problem: bipolar disorder. When her youngest son died, she was very sick. As for Pierre, he died two years after his son died. He was never the same. He loved his sons and was a very devoted father.
If Justin is confronted with a horrible problem, he can discuss it with Sasha, which is very good. So Margaret is a happy camper, surrounded by loving family.
So Margaret went back home. Cheers.

Thank you for the update. Didn’t know about the death & illness that befell them. Glad all is good now. Good to have you and your fellow Canadiens around for comfort and reassurance. We’ll most certainly need that. Cheers

The worst was Michel’s death at age 23. He was skiing in Northern British Columbia and he and three friends were swept into a lake by an avalanche. Two were rescued, but two drowned.
At the funeral, Margaret could barely walk.
Pierre resigned in 1984 so he could return to Montreal and have the boys educated at the school he attended. He joined a law firm. Cheers, Micheline

For a mother and father, the accidental death of a son is the worst of afflictions. Pierre wanted to see where his son had drowned, so Justin took him to Northern British Columbia. The police could not recover the body, which made matters worse for both Margaret and Pierre. If Trudeau père knew that his son has to deal with Donald Trump, he would curse heartland America for foisting an idiot on Canada and the world. Best

I saw a picture of the two of them looking at the lake and cried. I had seen my father collapse when we lost a brother. His two friends, both medical doctors, took him away. I had to speak at my father’s funeral. I said the truth. We were burying him, but he died the day my brother died. Fortunately, I also told how he introduced us to music. We started with Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain. Cheers

There are so many ways people experience, and express grief, about personal loss. You literally had a saying about it which not everyone is lucky to have. I think you speaking the truth honored his memory better than most of us would. One of the scariest fears about having a teenager who’s battling depression and feelings of unworthiness is to imagine that it may come a time when we’ll be scrambling for answers and wondering if something else could’ve been done about it. Anyone would beg heavens at every moment for it not to make you go through it, knowing perfectly well it’ll happen or not regardless of one’s wishes. Like our own final moment, we just hope we’ll have the clarity to see it through with dignity and some hard-earned hope. Cheers

No one knew. I was the only family member who saw him collapse. It was as though a thunderbolt had hit him. We underestimate fathers. He never recovered. The poor man. Have a good weekend. Cheers 🙂

It’s a catastrophe. Obama was an international favourite, but the world voted for Hillary. The third catastrophe after Brexit and Trump’s election would be Marine Le Pen being voted President of France. It may happen. After Hillary’s defeat, we can expect anything. Japan will have nothing to do with Britain outside the EU and Russia will have nothing to do with the US under Trump, nor will China. In fact, the EU was weakened, voters sank the US, and, consequently considerable power has been given to Russia, by the US.
Trudeau père was extraordinary. Abortions were decriminalized, homosexuality taken out of the closet, bilingualism and biculturalism enacted, multiculturalism inaugurated and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was embedded in the Constitution. As for the Constitution was “patriated.” As for our social programs, Lester B. Pearson asked Allan J. MacEachen to design a complete plan, including eye care. Insurance companies have very little to do with health care except for dental care, the cost of glasses, medication, and generous disability benefits. These are looked after by employers through insurance compagnies. It needs improvements, such as dental care and medication but it’s very good. It has pulled so many people out of anxiety and poverty. Canadians know how their taxes benefit them. Cheers, Micheline
