L’hymne national du Canada
« Ô Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux
Car ton bras sait [knows how to] porter l’épée,
Il sait porter la Croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur [worth], de foi trempée [lit. soaked in faith] ,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits. »
Translation of the French Lyrics
O Canada! Land of our ancestors,
You wear a crown of florets glorious.
Because your arm can carry a sword
And [because it] can carry a Cross.
Your history is an epic tale
Of the most brilliant deeds.
And (because) your worth, (is) steeped in Faith,
It (your worth/value) will protect our homes and our rights. (2)

Canada’s National Anthem
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
I like that people sing O Canada the way it should be, as an anthem. The US anthem gets all kinds of crazy arrangements to suit the singer. It’s an anthem – not a rock ‘n roll-rap ditty!! IMO

That’s the way I feel. The English version I chose is a Remembrance Day version. Thank you for your comment. Take care.

I like how your anthem is NOT militaristic, unlike ours in the U.S. I’d rather ours was America the Beautiful. — YUR

Thank you very much. I really like our anthem. We’re not a big power. We’re a land of refugees.
