I am slowly recovering from writing yesterday’s blog: Sandra Fluke, I agree with you. I have never had an abortion and I am sorry my husband and I never had a little one. However I know of a fine young woman who committed suicide because she was denied an abortion. Two lives were lost and the doctor who refused her the abortion she was seeking was so shocked by her death that he started performing abortions. He was arrested and served a jail term.
Fortunately, abortions were decriminalized under Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. In my opinion, what people fail to see is that the decriminalization of abortion is not an endorsement of abortion. I was told by a judge of the Supreme Court of Ontario that he and his colleagues had long wished to decriminalize abortions, but were facing opposition from people who thought women would use abortions as a form of birth-control.
But there are other reasons why US citizens should re-elect Barack Obama into the office of President of the United States. One is anti-tax-extremism, another, the erosion of the middle-class, the need for social programs, the battle against discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, etc.
