If you will allow me, I will simply feature the News and tell you that I am currently following Obama’s campaign. I have great admiration for the current President of the United States.
Great. I’ve just realized I hadn’t heard this song this year yet. Glad it was Ella. Quick story: in the middle 1980’s, both she and Sarah Vaughan were in New York at the same time. Having to make a budgetary choice, I figured: let’s see Ella; after all, she was already suffering the effects of diabetes and we’ll certainly have a chance to see Sarah at a later date, since she was much younger than Ella.
Her concert at Carnegie Hall was amazing. She sang many Brazilian songs and classics, Cole Porter, etc. She was in great spirits and, at one point, took her ‘damned shoes’ off and everyone laughed.
Sarah, on the other hand, never returned to New York and passed away suddenly, a few months later, robbing us the chance of seeing her live. Little true tale for your Saturday night. Best
Wesley
I am happy you like Ella sing an American classic. I sing this song at least once a day, but fail abysmally to do it justice.
When I discovered the Ella version of this song, right in front of me on the internet, I couldn’t believe my luck. Thank you Wesley.
Hugs,
Micheline

Ella Fizgerald est effectivement la grand dame de la chanson américaine. Moi aussi, je suis profondément émue. Vous êtes gentille de m’avoir écrit. Mes salutations, Micheline
Im no professional, but I imagine you just made the best point. You obviously fully understand what youre talking about, and I can really get behind that. Thanks for being so upfront and so honest.
