Dear Stefania, That execution was unjust. So references to d'Enghien are numerous in literature. He was perfectly innocent and lives in the memory of those who know he was murdered.
Berlioz is incredible! There is nothing French about his music. It is very powerful.
Have a good day my dear Stefania.
Love and big hugs,
Micheline

I'm glad you liked the paintings. I do not know much about John William Godward, except that he was one of the Pre-Raphaelites, in England.
As for the music, it is simple and pristine.
Love and big hugs,
Micheline

Dear Gallivanta,
The murder of the duc d'Enghien shocked the world. It is a well-known infamy and for Napoleon, it was the beginning of the end. His prime minister, Talleyrand, ended up orchestrating his defeat at Waterloo.
Have a very fine day, Gallivanta.
Love,
Micheline

The Book of Kells is of such beauty and, by searching a little, the Interet allows us to look at it. I am so glad you enjoyed it. It is the oldest among the great illuminated manuscripts.
Dear Naomi, take good care of yourself.
Love,
Micheline
